Campaign for Surviving Genocide

Hello Everyone,

A while back I asked the Defenders Board if Defenders could be the fiscal agent for the Indigenous community here in Rapid City, SD?  They said yes.

Well, we needed to start a fund raising campaign as we need at least 3 attorneys; one to help us with our appeal (fees = $505), one to help with the Civil Rights and Medical Privacy rights violations (mine included); and one to eventually help with the Supplemental Environmental Assessment to stop them from totally destroying almost all the historic buildings.

The usual retainer fee is $100,000 so we are trying to raise at least $200,000.

One of the young men started a fund raising campaign for us.  Share it as you wish.  We need all the help we can get. Thank you.

Organization Disbanding

Defenders of the Black Hills will host their final meeting, A 'Thank You' and 'Retirement' Get-Together on Saturday, Dec. 10th, from 10:30- 2:00 PM, at the Mother Butler Center Hall, 221 Knollwood Dr., Rapid City, SD. A Potluck meal is planned.

The organization, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, will be closing down their operation before the end of the year after working on environmental issues in the Region for more than 14 years. As a non-profit, all volunteer organization, any remaining monetary funds will be used to pay old bills, and property will be donated to other non-profit corporations.
